Pungo-120 Kayak Review
These are great kayaks! If you are looking for a boat that is great for mellow rivers and/or relatively small lakes (not the Great Lakes!) than this is a great boat!
Primary and secondary stability are great…meaning this is a very peaceful non-tippy kayak.
2 dry containers…with one being very large is great!!!! Because when you want/need something dry, you really want/need it to be dry (b/c you are probably not)!!!!
This boat has a lot of great features, but one of the most important is the seat and cockpit. The seat is EXTREMELY comfortable and very adjustable, in fact there are 3 major adjustments you can make. (1) thigh support…moving the seat portion that touches your thighs up or down to support them. (2) the seatback can be adjusted both fore/aft. (3) the set height can be adjusted in order to account for height changes.
The cockpit is great because of the seat, but also because of the cockpit console which you can have on or off. With it on this is a great sit-inside kayak with the smaller dry container, spaces for an assortment of items, as well as a couple of cup holders. If you take the cockpit console out (which is extremely fast and easy, in fact it can be done at a moments notice on riverside) this kayak has an extremely large cockpit, which allows your legs to be in the sun, as well as it is great for making the cockpit so long that just about anyone can get in or out with ease. Removing the cockpit console also makes it so the kayak is almost like a sit-on top kayak, however you are still seated lower inside the boat so the stability is not reduced.
Another feature which isn’t a big deal, but extremely handy is the ability to adjust the foot pads without having to lean down inside the boat. This is great when you want/need to adjust your foot placement, in particular it is great b/c this allows you to do it while you are in the seat, and don’t have to pull over to the shore and get out…..again…..extremely handy.
The tracking(ability to go straight), stability, maneuverability, comfort, and speed of this boat are great.
However if you are looking for a boat of about the same length, with all these good features but is faster and for a slightly more experienced paddler…then without a doubt you want a Tsunami 125.
